seeing that bit on Kimmel last week of concert goers of Coachella being asked if they had heard of a certain band and all but one (two door cinema club) being fake has really stuck with me lately. Not on the basis of being remarkable funny but the sense of a generation that doesnt feel ok with admitting they don’t know something. I don’t know where this started or where it will end but i know I’ve been guilty of this. Not wanting to be the one who is left out or behind the ever changing spectrum of “in” music. Now when the question is presented to me, instead of nervously agreeing i just take my phone out and say “how do you spell it?.”

i am routinely messaged by friends asking for new music or band suggestions, to which i always am happy to assist with. I try and do my best to suggest not just my favorite song but a song i think that person will like based off what i think i know about them. The appreciation they have for such a simple gesture of scoping through my iTunes collection just to find the right song is always something i smile about. I do not know every band & just because i like it, does not mean i think the next person will. Seems like such a simple thing to do, to ask about new music i know but yet some (including myself) cannot just admit we don’t know. It is just music, no one is going to not like you for not knowing. Its not just music, but i’m trying to learn it is ok to not know something. I wonder how boring life would be if we were all done learning?
a quick hello.

@Macklemore & @RyanLewis - “10,000 Hours”
On Nov 13th 2012, I was apart of something amazing. I had the pleasure of seeing in person the Seattle based hip/hop duo that is Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Nothing I could possibly write could do what i witnessed justice and maybe not even this quick video can. All i hope it can accomplish is to push you to make the effort to see this duo perform. For over 90 minutes, they give you 200% from start to finish all while instilling in you that they understand they would not be there without there supporters. Music needs more people like these two. I could never thank them enough for this experience.(especially since i should have been out of the country for it) Life is a beautiful thing.
